What happens when I uninstall Blueprint?

Short answer

Uninstalling removes your Blueprint app data on our side and deactivates Blueprint’s cart features. It does not automatically clean up everything Blueprint created in Shopify admin, because Shopify revokes API access when you uninstall.

What Blueprint removes

  • Your Blueprint account data, templates, and connected data sources (on Blueprint’s servers)

  • Blueprint’s cart transform for your store

What may remain in Shopify

  • Smart collections under Products → Collections

  • blueprint-* product tags

  • Customisation Fee products

  • Theme configurator blocks in your theme editor

  • Product or shop metafields (usually harmless)

What to do before you uninstall (recommended)

  1. Delete templates you no longer need in the Blueprint admin while the app is still installed.

  2. Review Products → Collections and delete Blueprint-related smart collections you do not want.

  3. Optional: Remove blueprint-* tags from products.

  4. Remove Blueprint blocks from product templates in Online Store → Themes → Customize.

  5. Uninstall from Settings → Apps and sales channels.

Deleting a template while installed

Deleting a template in Blueprint will:

  • Remove that template’s shop metafields

  • Update linked products so they no longer reference the template

  • Remove blueprint-* tags from products no longer linked to the template

  • Schedule cleanup of that template’s Customisation Fee products (where applicable)

Blueprint may leave an empty smart collection in your admin — you can delete it manually under Products → Collections.

Note: If a template only links one existing collection and has no directly linked products, Blueprint mirrors that collection and does not create a separate smart collection.
